Fall foliage forecast: When to see peak colors

State of play: Peak foliage is expected to pop up by the second half of October in the farther reaches of Northeastern Pennsylvania, according to a map on Explore Fall.

• Meanwhile, Philadelphians may have to wait until November to see full colors arrive in Wissahickon Valley Park.

Worth noting: Pinpointing the best time for leaf-peeping is a moving target and depends on several factors — think weather, temps and precipitation.

• For instance: Those recent cooler nights are fueling color changes in certain parts of the state.

🔮 The forecast

🏔️ The Poconos: Full color is projected to start arriving in the northern Poconos region around Oct. 15, like Wayne and Pike counties.

• As for the southern parts of the Poconos, like Jim Thorpe and Stroudsburg, peak colors are expected Oct. 20-29.

🏞️ Closer to home: Quakertown and nearby places like Nockamixon State Park should start seeing peak colors around Oct. 28, which could last into November.

🍂 Philly proper: Colors are projected to begin peaking on Nov. 3.
