Axios Philadelphia readers are split about the new arena design for the future home of the Sixers and Flyers.
By the numbers: More than half of the 83 participants who voted in the poll said the design was just OK (51%).
- Meanwhile, 48% say they love the design.
1 sure thing: Only 1% of voters absolutely hate the design.
Catch up quick: Earlier this week, the Sixers and Comcast Spectacor dropped the first renderings of the arena, which was heavily influenced by the Spectrum, the teams' old home arena until 1996.
- Developers want to break ground on the new arena in 2027.
🤔 Looks like: Many readers compared the design to a spaceship, sardine can, stack of quarters and office building.

- Sleek building with an homage to 76ers' history. Can't wait to see more.
- Love that it respects and reflects the legacy of the past, while making an arena for the future!

- It's a little too futuristic and UFO-like. Would be nice to see a new building constructed with an idea besides "shiny."
