Philadelphia Cycling Classic to return in 2027

The biggest one-day professional bike race in the U.S. will make a comeback in Philadelphia next year, event organizers tell Axios.

Why it matters: After taking a 10-year hiatus and returning this year, the Cycle Classic is well on its way to becoming an annual event again.

Don't mark your calendars just yet: The official date of the race isn't set, a spokesperson for Race Street Partners says.

The date will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Zoom in: Spectators lined the 14.4-mile route from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to Roxborough last Sunday, ringing cow bells and cheering on the riders.

By the numbers: Turnout surpassed 100,000 people, although official numbers have yet to be confirmed, per race organizers.
