Meek Mill to take the stage at Philly's July 4 concert

Meek Mill will join a star-studded lineup taking the stage at Philadelphia's Fourth of July concert.

Why it matters: The party on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be the place to celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th anniversary.

Driving the news: Mill, a Philly native who was added as a headliner on Tuesday, will perform alongside The Roots at the nightlong concert.

They'll share top billing with Christina Aguilera and Jill Scott, and join Will Smith, Seal, Jordan Davis and Kathy Sledge.

Between the lines: The announcement adds another big name to an event lineup that Mayor Cherelle Parker was more heavily involved in shaping this year.

Parker recently renamed the show the "One Philly Unity Concert for America," linking it to her political brand.

If you go: The July 4 concert kicks off at 5pm and will conclude with fireworks over the art museum around midnight.
