Pennsylvania undecided on Trump-backed Great American State Fair

State of play: VisitPA, the state's tourism arm, got an invitation to the 16-day event in Washington, D.C., which kicks off June 25.

• All 50 states and six U.S. territories have been offered 600 feet of exhibit space to showcase their culture, history and industries, Axios D.C.'s Anna Spiegel reports.
• Yes, but: "No final decision has been made regarding Pennsylvania's participation," Penny Ickes, spokesperson for the state's Department of Community & Economic Development, tells Axios.

Context: Freedom 250 — the Trump-founded public-private partnership organizing the event — insists the fair remains nonpartisan and inclusive.

• Last week, at least five of the fair's nine concert headliners backed out shortly after being announced. Those include country star Martina McBride, rapper Young MC and rocker Bret Michaels.
• Several cited being misled about the fair and its political affiliation.

• McBride wrote on Instagram that she agreed to "a nonpartisan event that was meant to celebrate ALL 50 states," but ultimately, that's "not what is happening."

Shortly after the concert lineup unraveled, organizers announced Trump — described as the "visionary behind the Great American State Fair" — will launch the event during an opening ceremony on June 24.

• Trump has also suggested scrapping the concert altogether in favor of a "giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY."
