Pop-ups will fill vacant storefronts in Market East this summer

The big picture: These businesses will open in properties donated by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment and Comcast.

• It's all part of the companies' pledges to revive Market East — after HBSE unexpectedly ditched plans to build a $1.3 billion arena there last year in favor of staying in South Philly.

Driving the news: The pop-ups will operate from May 6 to July 31 along the 900 block of Market Street. They are:

• 🍧 Siddiq's Water Ice: A longtime West Philly favorite
• 🎨 Art Philly: An arts hub
• 👖Almost Famous: Vintage and used clothing, plus live events like music and panel discussions
• 😲 Clubfriends Radio & Records: An immersive experience based on Alexa Colas' "I Turned My Living Room Into a Record Store"
• 🖼️ Rarify: A gallery that will feature an exhibit on the region's notable designs, like architecture and furniture
• ☕ Two Persons Coffee: A Bok Building-based cafe

Worth noting: The pop-ups are part of the city-funded Meantime on Market initiative, which is led by Center City District and the nonprofit Meantime.
