This Phoenix isn't just rising from the ashes β it's getting a welcome-home party.
Why it matters: The Phoenix Wheel, the last of its kind in the country, is back in Phoenixville after spending nearly a century at the Jersey Shore, per NBC 10.
State of play: The Ferris wheel, constructed by the now-shuttered Phoenix Steel Company in the 1890s, was taken out of service in 1988, shipped to an amusement park in Mississippi, and later spent time in storage before the Schuylkill River Heritage Center at Phoenixville shelled out $2.2 million to bring it home.
Zoom in: Without directions, it took about a year to reassemble the 78-foot-tall Ferris wheel, as workers relied on trial and error to piece the steel structure back together, per People.
πΈ Fun fact: The wheel also appears in photographs Bruce Springsteen took in Asbury Park.
What's next: The wheel will reopen June 6 as an art installation, with hopes that one day it will again lift riders skyward.
