Wanamaker Light Show and Dickens Village return for the holiday season

Driving the news: The free festivities, including performances on the Wanamaker Organ, run Nov. 28-Dec. 24, per the Philadelphia Visitor Center.

Catch up quick: A local fundraising effort ensured the annual show returned this year after Macy's closed its flagship store inside the Wanamaker and a new owner scooped up the historic building.

The intrigue: The future of the light show and Dickens Village after this year is uncertain.

• They're paused for at least 2026 and 2027 due to planned construction inside the Wanamaker Building, the Philadelphia Visitor Center said in a news release.
• The visitor center is in talks with the building's new owner to preserve the tradition at the Wanamaker. Fundraising for the show also continues.
