Culinary students open restaurant and bakery in Montgomery County

State of play: Students are responsible for running every aspect of Bistro 1964 and Bakery 340, which is located at the campus' Hospitality Institute in Blue Bell.

• They're serving up everything from gourmet dishes and pizzas to freshly baked croissants, muffins and scones, plus ​coffee from Backyard Beans.

How it works: Seating for the restaurant is by reservation only and includes a prix-fixe lunch (two courses, dessert and a drink for $20).

• Yes, but: You can still pick up a $10 pizza at the takeout counter.

What they're saying: Students are "putting their culinary skills they've honed in the classroom to the test," Anthony Ginexi, the school's dean of Business and Professional Studies, says in a statement.

If you go: Bistro 1964 is open Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11:30am–1pm, through Dec. 10.

• The cash-only bakery's hours are Wednesdays from 10am–noon through Dec. 3.
