Michelin chooses Philadelphia for its top awards ceremony

Philadelphia could become a Michelin-starred city when the restaurant-ratings giant crowns its next winners here in November.

Why it matters: Michelin's culinary awards are coveted by the industry and being the backdrop for the event will bring fresh buzz to Philly's booming restaurant scene.

Driving the news: Michelin will unveil its newest restaurant awards and distinctions for its "2025 Northeast Cities Guide" on Nov. 18 at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

The guide includes restaurants in Philly, Boston, Chicago, New York City and Washington, D.C.

How it works: Michelin's restaurant awards include:

⭐ One, two and three stars: Restaurants with outstanding cooking.
💵 Bib Gourmand: Restaurants that offer good quality food for a good value.
🌱 Green Star: Pioneers in sustainable gastronomy.

What they're saying: Michelin spokesperson Carly Grieff declined to reveal details about the number of restaurants inspected or inspectors' methods for evaluating a restaurant in Philly.
