Philadelphia's Indego bike-share program turns 10

Flashback: The bright blue bikes began appearing in Philly on April 23, 2015, under then-Mayor Michael Nutter.

🧮 By the numbers: The bike-share program has grown significantly over the past decade:

• 🚲 The system has more than 2,200 bikes, up from around 600 in 2015.
• 📈 Stations have ballooned to more than 250, up from the original 60.
• 💳 A monthly pass is now $20, up from $15.
• ⚡ Electric pedal-assisted bikes were launched in 2018.

🚗 1 amazing thing: Indego rides have replaced more than 2 million car trips over the length of the program, per a company spokesperson.

What we're watching: Indego is expanding this year by adding roughly 40 new stations — including in Cobbs Creek and Manayunk/Roxborough — and 400 electric bikes.

🚴‍♂️ What's next: Tag along for Indego's birthday group ride on April 30 starting at 7pm at the Rocky Steps and going through East Fairmount Park.
