Stephen A. Smith flirts with presidential run

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith is seriously considering a presidential run in 2028.

Why it matters: If the former Philly Inquirer columnist and current ESPN and political commentator follows through, he'll join a long list of celebrities who have run for office, including President Trump.

What he's saying: "Time to stop messing around," Smith posted this week on X, sharing an article about a possible presidential bid.

"Life is great. Especially at ESPN/Disney. Hate the thought of being a politician. But sick of this mess. So I'm officially leaving all doors open."

State of play: If Smith ran as a Democrat, he would likely join a crowded field already jockeying for the party's 2028 nomination.
