Philadelphia's two-wheeled "Dashers"

More than a third of Philadelphia's DoorDash deliveries are made on two wheels, per a recent report from the company.

Why it matters: It's a way of measuring bikeability — i.e. more bikeable cities means more two-wheel deliveries.

By the numbers: 35% of Philly's DoorDash deliveries are done via bikes, e-bikes, scooters and so on, per the report.

Yes, but: Philly's bike delivery rate actually lags many cities.

The big picture: DoorDash bike deliveries across the U.S. and Canada has tripled since 2022, the company says.

How it works: DoorDash's data is based on a four-week period covering August-September 2024, and bikes' share of overall deliveries may drop in wintertime in some cities.

Zoom out: San Francisco has a whopping 76% of DoorDash deliveries done on bikes, leading the top 50 North American cities.

• New York City (58%) and Seattle (30%) are ranked 7th and 35th, respectively.

The other side: Cities with the lowest two-wheel delivery shares: Houston (4%), Atlanta (8%) and Dallas (9.5%).
