Phillie Phantic is baseball's No. 1 mascot

Bryce Harper isn't alone in his love for the Phillie Phanatic — baseball fans crowned our mascot the best and most intimidating.

Why it matters: The Phillies are better at home with the bonafide daredevil blitzing across the field in his four-wheeler. (Aren't those banned here?)

Driving the news: Eat pine tar, Mr. Met. We can't beat them in the playoffs recently, but we edged out the rival Mets for best mascot, according to a national survey of 2,000 baseball fans.

We also topped the Diamondbacks' Baxter for most intimidating mascot — another of our hated postseason foes.
Sucks to suck: Poor Oakland's Stomper and Cleveland's Slider were voted the worst and least-feared mascots, respectively.

Zoom in: Those surveyed say they love their mascots because they're entertaining, cute and boost team morale.

The bottom line: It's good to see others are fanatical about our mascot. Game recognize game.
