Phillies fans are all about the turnaround, but they start losing patience with their team after nine straight losses.
The big picture: With spring training in full swing, sports platform Promo Guy asked Major League Baseball fans nationwide how many consecutive losses it takes before they start losing faith in their team.
- The Phils' tolerance for loss is on par with the average baseball fan, the platform found.
- We also hold the interstate crown for patience: Pittsburgh loses faith after seven straight losses.
The fine print: The poll reflects responses from 2,000 people.
Pennsylvania pitfalls: The Phils hold the MLB's modern-day record for most consecutive losses: 23, which they set in 1961.
- Pittsburgh also lost 23 straight times, but that was in 1890 when the team was still called the Alleghenys.
Reality check: Baseball season is long, and there's going to be some rough stretches.
Case in point: The Phils had a historic start last season, but then lost 11 of 14 games after the All-Star break, including six straight.
- They eventually rebounded before losing to the Mets in the divisional round of the playoffs.
The bottom line: We know a thing or two about delayed gratification — the Phils have been World Series-adjacent for the last three seasons.
