A snow leopard and trio of primates are among the newest animals to take up residence at the Philadelphia Zoo this year.
The big picture: The zoo is making upgrades to several exhibits in the coming years.
- It's poised to break ground in 2025 on a $20 million renovation of its Bear Country exhibit.
- Next year, the zoo will also debut a walk-through flamingo exhibit, where guests can get closer than ever to the animals and feed them, spokesperson Maria Bryant tells Axios.

Here are some of the new animals that arrived this year.
Snow leopard Marcy
The 3-year-old female snow leopard arrived in March and became a companion to the zoo's other snow leopard, Yuki.
Red-tailed monkey Khari
Khari was born in August at the zoo.
White-handed gibbon named Eros
The baby boy was born at the zoo on March 13 and has two older siblings there already. They're known as the best aerialists among the primates.
Sumatran orangutan Jambi
Jambi was the first Sumatran orangutan born at the zoo in 15 years.
