Holiday market, ice rink returning to Philadelphia's Dilworth Park

Dilworth Park's holiday festivities return to City Hall this week, signaling the start of Philly's most wonderful time of the year.

Why it matters: The seasonal staple is one of the best ways to spread holiday cheer, as our friend Buddy the Elf says.

Driving the news: The ice rink and cabin in front of City Hall opens Friday and runs through Feb. 23.

Visitors can check out the Made in Philadelphia Market through New Year's Day and take in the Wintergarden lights and reindeer-shaped topiaries until March 9.

The intrigue: The ice rink is getting a makeover with a new overhead art piece, featuring reflective icicles and special lighting, from Lucky Dog Studio, per Philly Voice.

If you go: Rink admission: $9 adults, $7 kids, plus $10 skate rental.

Holiday market hours: Sundays-Thursday, 12-8 p.m; Fridays -Saturday, 12-9 p.m.
