Wawa named best convenience store in new study

Driving the news: Wawa came out on top of the American Customer Satisfaction Index's (ACSI) recent Convenience Store study.

• As fuel sales decline with the rise of electric vehicles, convenience stores are stepping up their in-store experience and emerging as competitors in the food service market.
• The top brands are fully embracing one-stop shopping by offering extensive food options and valuable rewards programs.

By the numbers: Wawa took the nationwide crown in customer experience with an overall score of 82 out of 100.

• Behind Wawa was QuikTrip (based in Oklahoma), Buc-ee's (Texas), and Murphy USA (Arkansas).
• Pennsylvania competitor Sheetz, based in Altoona, ranked 5th overall in the study.

How it works: The study was based on more than 5,700 customer email surveys between March and September 2024.

• Customers were asked to evaluate their recent experiences with the largest companies in terms of market share and "all other" companies.
