6 things to do in Philly this weekend, including ice skating

Friday is the First Friday of 2024, so you can catch special programming and events at art galleries, shops, museums and bars.

Philly Loves Bowie Week kicks off on Friday with a free noon concert at World Cafe Live featuring Candy Volcano (registration required).

🐧 This is your last chance to catch LumiNature. Take an evening stroll through the Philadelphia Zoo illuminated by more than a million holiday lights.

  • Runs Friday and Saturday. Cost: $25 for adults; $20 for children ages 2-11.

🎤 Friday is poetry night at PhilaMOCA in North Philly. Philly Pigeon hosts an open-mic night featuring poet Rasheed Copeland, music and games.

🎨 Browse works from local artists Saskia Fleishman and Carrie R. at a new exhibit at the Cherry Street Pier starting this weekend. The exhibition features landscape prints and sculptures.

  • The opening reception is Friday from 5-7pm.

👑 Celebrate Día de Reyes with a family event at the Kimmel Center. This Three Kings Day celebration features Mexican traditions, including rosca de reyes, the breaking of piñatas and more.

  • Saturday at 3pm. Free!

❄️ Celebrate winter (even if there's no snow) with a night out at the open-air Wintergarden in Dilworth Park by City Hall. The space features greenery and mulled wine, an indoor cabin and ice rink. Hours vary; pay as you go.
