Arkansas voters reelected Sen. Tom Cotton despite a challenge from Democrat Hallie Shoffner that some saw as competitive, according to the AP.

State of play: The AP called the race at 9:40pm. Cotton had about 55% of the vote with 84% of votes counted as of 9:57pm.

What's next: Cotton wants Congress to allocate another $350 billion for defense industry infrastructure and weapons production. He supports multiyear Pentagon purchases, faster weapons sales to allies and fewer barriers for smaller companies seeking defense contracts, he told Axios during his campaign.
