The Agenda: AI policy, grants, construction

🤖 Creating a policy regulating how the city government uses AI, in accordance with state law requiring that cities do so. The policy allows AI to assist in decision-making but states that a human employee must make the final determination in every consequential decision. See the full policy.

🚦 Accepting a grant worth about $1 million from the Walton Family Foundation for intersection improvements, including a traffic signal at Southwest I and Southwest 41st streets, plus entering into an approximately $1.2 million agreement with All Service Electric for the work.

🚧 A contract worth about $2.3 million with Steep Creek for Southwest Nutmeg Street drainage improvements.

💧 A resolution of intent to finance a portion of the 48-inch supply water transmission project with about $9.6 million in bonds purchased by the Arkansas Development Finance Authority.

Rogers will vote on:

💦 An agreement for interconnection of municipal water systems with Pea Ridge, which outlines how the cities would provide water to each other in cases of emergency or maintenance issues.

💰 Declaring the city's intent to issue up to $70 million in sewer revenue bonds.

Springdale will vote on:

💻 An AI policy similar to the one Bentonville will consider.

💵 Accepting a $750,000 grant from the Walton Family Foundation's design excellence program for planning and design work at Shiloh Square downtown.
