The Agenda: Rogers bond election, downtown Springdale moves

🗳️ Calling for a bond issue election on Nov. 3 asking voters to decide on refinancing $118 million in bonds and extending a 1% sales tax to cover:

• 🚧 $195.5 million for street improvements
• 🌳 $81.5 million for Parks and Recreation
• 🚒 $32.75 million for the Fire Department
• 🚓 $20.75 million for the Police Department
• 🐕 $8.75 million for animal services

🗓️ Even if council members approve the proposal tonight, the bond issue won't have the green light to be placed on the ballot until after the Aug. 11 City Council meeting, city spokesperson Peter Masonis told Axios.

Springdale will vote on:

💰 Applying for a grant up to $750,000 from the Walton Family Foundation Design Excellence Program for planning and design services at Shiloh Square downtown.

👷 Applying for a grant up to $800,000 from Walton Family Foundation to establish a downtown infill infrastructure pilot program as Springdale's downtown has constraints in water and fire-flow capacity, wastewater, stormwater, streets, sidewalks, lighting and related public improvements, according to city documents. The city would match up to $200,000.
