A Michelin-recommended Dallas restaurant has a new location in downtown Bentonville.
🍽️ The vibe: Written by the Seasons is a dinner-only, upscale restaurant with a space in the same complex as also-newish Mezzaluna Pasteria & Mozzarella Bar and Wu Zhao. I'm sensing a pattern.
- It's an eclectic, rotating menu. I found steak and seafood options and plenty of intrigue, like kimchi pancakes.
- While totally appropriate for an occasion, on the finer side and a modern aesthetic, it's still a relaxed atmosphere with photos on the wall and patio and bar seating. It was a cheery place to end the workweek.
⭐️ What to try: The duck confit ($45) with red curry, kale, rice, grapes and pineapple was a hit and one of the more creative dishes I've had in a while that worked well.
- The duck wasn't too gamey, but savory and tender. It's a rich dish given the duck and the curry, and the fruit gives it some relief.
- The salt cod fritters ($21), served with artichoke, saffron aioli and frisée lemon, are safe to start a meal with as they're crispy bites of quality fish in delicious sauce. It's hard to go wrong here.
🍜 Zoom out: I also tried the spicy Korean glass noodles entrée ($29) with mushrooms, bok choy, peppers and soy-ginger sauce. The vegetables and sauce in this vegetarian dish were flavorful, though I'm adding shrimp next time.
