What to know about the ongoing fiscal session

🏈 An effort to stop University of Arkansas money from being transferred to Razorback athletics failed to make it out of committee, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

🎒 The Senate voted down a bill that would have made students already enrolled in private schools ineligible for education freedom accounts, which allow state money to be used for private school or homeschool costs.

📺 Lawmakers advanced a bill to increase the spending authority of Arkansas' public television network to match up to $550,000 from donors for PBS membership dues.

• The state's public television commission voted in December to split from PBS but has since decided to delay the split.

🏠 A bill to increase the state's homestead property tax credit to $675 will likely be up for a vote this week, the Arkansas Advocate reported.

• Property owners can apply for the tax credit, which is currently up to $500 and already approved to increase to $600 for 2026 tax bills, to cut their property taxes for their primary residences, according to the state Department of Finance and Administration.

What's next: Sanders has said she's prepared to call lawmakers into a special session following the fiscal session to cut income taxes, the Arkansas Advocate reported.
