The Fayetteville City Council meets tonight and plans to vote on:
💰Paying $100,000 to a resident whose home on North Fallin Avenue and belongings sustained sewer damage. The city had incorrectly located a sewer main, which caused debris buildup, according to city documents. The resident is requesting about $130,000, but city ordinance allows a maximum payment of $100,000. City staff is recommending the city pay the maximum.
- Two-thirds of the City Council must be in favor for this to pass, rather than the usual majority.
👨💼 Renaming the City Hall Annex to the Lioneld Jordan Municipal Annex. Jordan served as mayor for 16 years, the longest in Fayetteville's history, from 2009 to 2024.
💧 A cost-share agreement where the city would contribute about $898,700 toward upgrades to the Owl Creek sewer lift station on North Double Springs Road. Real estate company Calara Land would pay for the rest of the project, which is expected to cost about $1.08 million.
🚧 Applying for an $800,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for a comprehensive transportation planning study of the Wedington corridor from Garland Avenue to Double Springs Road. The city would match $160,000.
- The city and Arkansas Department of Transportation have received requests for several intersection and safety improvements to Wedington. "Rather than study each of these intersections separately, staff recommends a comprehensive transportation planning study of the Wedington Corridor to evaluate traffic operations, safety enhancements, access management, land use coordination and long-term implementation strategies," according to city documents.
