The state's first brewery dedicated to gluten-free beers is open in downtown Bentonville.
🍞 Why it matters: People with conditions like celiac disease or gluten intolerance usually have to sit out when it comes to drinking beer, which typically has gluten. And that makes NWA's craft beer scene largely irrelevant for some. But everything at Stoic Brews Alternative is safe for such drinkers.
🍻 What to try: The Wise Wit Belgian ($8.50) or the Moral Compass lager ($7.50) are easy sippers. And the pizza, made with a gluten free crust, is solid pub fare.
🍕 The vibe: The tap room is inside the former home of pizza joint Pedaler's Pub and is a welcome hangout space for downtown Bentonville. It's important to note that outside food is not allowed to keep the place truly gluten free.
🤝 Reality check: OK, I can tell a slight difference in gluten-free beers versus typical beers. But it's not enough to rule out gluten-free beers, especially if you want to be inclusive of your buddies who don't have as many options at other places.
