A good cup of coffee is simple. So is a good coffeehouse.
The setup: I found myself in Siloam Springs on deadline. A local earlier that day suggested that Pour Jons is "the best coffee in NWA."
I'm skeptical of the "best" of anything, but she was clearly a hardcore advocate.
The vibe: In a warehouse-esque space downtown, Pour Jons was full of customers by early afternoon, but didn't feel crowded.
College students were doing what college students do, locals were chatting about babies and the tunes were classic rock without being offensively loud.
The drink: I ordered a pour-over, made with a Guatemalan blend ($5).
It was steaming hot, rich, full-bodied and satisfying.
This was, without a doubt, one of the best pour-overs I've had anywhere in NWA.
Pour Jons roasts its own beans on site, so the barista has the recipe dialed in.
The food: I'd already eaten, but my local friend says the house bagels are also top shelf. I can't wait to try 'em.
Check it out: Monday - Friday 7am-6pm; Saturday 8am-6pm; Sunday 8am-5pm at 516-2 E. Main Street in Siloam Springs.
