Monday Munchies: Casa Alejo in downtown Springdale has must-try birria

Put a trip to Casa Alejo, a Mexican restaurant in downtown Springdale, on your 2025 to-do list.
🤤 What to try: Anything with the birria. Birria is a slow-cooked marinated beef — and Casa Alejo's is actually mouthwatering. It's the kind of dinner that'll have you savoring in silence and appreciating a meal that wasn't rushed.
- In my case, it was the quesabirria ($14) — quesadillas with birria and mozzarella, onion and cilantro plus a consomme for dipping.
Pro tip: Birria is on the heavy side, so consider ordering a chicken or seafood entrée and sharing both with a friend so you can try more than one dish and not be overly stuffed.
- We also had the Poblanas enchiladas with chicken ($14), and it's for anyone who loves a good creamy roasted pepper sauce.
Zoom out: A night out here isn't complete without a margarita or another cocktail. Try the El Cantarito ($12) with tequila, salt, orange juice, lime juice, grapefruit juice and grapefruit soda for a fruity option that isn't too sweet.
