Tourism executive Molly Rawn unseated four-term Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan, taking 51% of the vote in the runoff election, according to unofficial results from Washington County.
Why it matters: It's Jordan's first failed reelection bid since he first won the mayor's seat in 2008.
State of play: Rawn is the chief executive officer at Experience Fayetteville, the city's tourism arm.
- She previously told Axios she wants to make it easier for small business owners to operate in the city and wants to strengthen relationships with the city's largest employers and neighboring cities.
Flashback: The race headed to a runoff after no candidate managed an outright victory in the November general election.
- Jordan took about 46.9% of the vote in that race, followed by Rawn with about 36.9%, Tom Terminella with about 12.4% and Adam Fire Cat with nearly 3.8%.
