Artists get boost with grant funding

• This round of grants from the Walton Family Foundation can go toward the artists' "overall creative development" instead of for specific projects, according to a news release.

By the numbers: Multimedia artist John Rankine of Eureka Springs got the top $25,000 award. Five artists received $17,500 grants, and another 15 working artists got $10,000 each.

• Five graduate students from the University of Arkansas got $5,000 each, and five undergraduate students, including four from the Fayetteville campus and one from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, got $2,500 grants.
