The Bentonville City Council authorized the city to buy the property of Benton County Circuit Court, Division VI, including a 24-car parking lot, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
Why it matters: The space is a key part of the city's planned Quilt of Parks project.
State of play: The land and building at 221 S. Main St. cover a little more than a half acre and will cost the city $4.65 million.
The council also voted to accept a $2 million grant and a $2.65 million loan from the Walton Family Foundation for the purchase.
What's next: City staff will occupy the building for the next 12-18 months, as it finishes building the Quilt of Parks, Bentonville parks director David Wright told the Democrat-Gazette.
Benton County plans to build two new circuit court facilities at the county Juvenile Justice Center.
