Musician Jewel is delving into visual art, and she's debuting her work in Bentonville.

State of play: "The Portal: An Art Experience by Jewel" will explore the intersection of music, mental health, technology and art, according to a news release from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

  • It will feature a drone show choreographed by Jewel and set to her music, a painting and sculpture by Jewel, and a meditative art walk through contemporary works from Crystal Bridges' collection.

What they're saying: "I began my creative journey studying sculpture — marble carving and clay, before moving into drawing and painting," Jewel said in the news release. "These disciplines taught me about crafting melodic structure in the songs I wrote in subsequent years."

Flashback: This isn't the singer's first trip to Northwest Arkansas. She's participated in the Bentonville Film Festival and spoke about mental health at Thaden School.

If you go: The exhibit will be available Thursday-Sunday, May 4-July 28. Tickets are $25, or $20 for museum members.
