Louisiana has a new "I voted" sticker that'll roll out with elections this fall.
Why it matters: They're fun! And they might actually encourage more people to head to the polls, researchers have said.
Zoom in: In designing the sticker, New Orleans artist Terrance Osborne was inspired by the concept of how Louisiana would look if it were a sound.
- "I immediately thought of doing magnolias," Osborne told reporters during an unveiling ceremony Tuesday in Baton Rouge. "And then there's this bead, a Mardi Gras bead, that is pointing down. See how it's going southeast? It's a nod to New Orleans."
The big picture: This year's sticker is the state's sixth design for the "I voted" sticker series, and Osborne is the fifth Louisiana artist to create one, according to Secretary of State Nancy Landry.
- The project launched in 2016 with George Rodrigue's version of the iconic Blue Dog.
- Osborne's version replaces a cartoon crawfish dubbed Mark de Ballot by artist William Joyce.
Catch up quick: Osborne attended NOCCA and is a Xavier University graduate.
- He taught art at Alice Harte Elementary until Hurricane Katrina, when his family moved temporarily to Georgia and he decided to pursue art full time, according to a press release.
- His work has since exploded in popularity, and he's partnered with Jazz Fest to design its annual poster six times. He's also worked with Raising Cane's, Nike, the NBA and Coca-Cola.

- The deadline to register in person or by mail is Oct. 5. Register online by Oct. 13.
