New Orleans gets region's first library vending machine

How it works: Anyone with a library card can use the vending machine, the New Orleans Public Library says.

• It's stocked with over 200 borrowable items for children, teens and adults.
• The collection includes popular movies like Disney's "Encanto" and "Moana," plus bestselling novels like Silvia Moreno-Garcia's "Mexican Gothic" and Sarah J. Maas' "A Court of Thorns and Roses."

What they're saying: The library aims to "create a library lifestyle for all New Orleanians," says city librarian Emily Painton.

• "We'd love to have a library location in every neighborhood in the city, but by putting technology like this in an underserved area, we're removing an immediate barrier to accessing our services."
