New Orleans is known for its hotel lobbies that get dressed to the nines during the holidays with Instagrammable, family-photo-worthy decorations.
The intrigue: Why stop at visiting the lobby when you can live in the holiday experience for a night?
State of play: Several New Orleans hotels have deals for the holidays that let you check in to check out suites with special Christmas decorations.

"A Christmas Story" comes to life
The Virgin Hotel, which hosts a Mariah Carey pop-up Christmas bar in the lobby this year, also has a truly epic option for the overnight crowd.
- If you're willing to spend at least $8,942, that is.
- Beginning Dec. 1, you can book the "Ralphie's Virgin Vacation," described as the penthouse flat "completely decked out," at the Virgin Hotel.
- The space will have a real Christmas tree with ornaments available for decorating, plus guests will score some bunny pajamas, a curated dinner from chef Chris Borges and a fireside reservation at the rooftop Pool Club.
Holly Jolly Hideaway
The New Orleans Marriott on Canal Street has a decorated version of its standard Crescent City suite overlooking the Mississippi River.
