New Orleans bars are getting into the holiday spirit with Christmas-themed takeovers and pop-ups.
Why it matters: We might not ever get any snow, but at least we have a cardboard cutout of Mariah Carey.
Zoom in: New Orleans is already known for its sweetly-decorated hotel lobbies, and tree lighting ceremonies deck the halls all over the city.
- But holiday pop-up bars are a special kind of treat. They tend to be more immersive, and even if it's still 80 degrees outside, you can kick back with peppermint sticks in your cocktails and enjoy the decor.
Here are the Christmas pop-up bars in New Orleans this holiday season:
Mariah Carey's pop-up

⭐️ Mariah Carey's Holiday Bar: New Orleans is just one of a handful of cities getting a pop-up from the Queen of Christmas.
- This one is tucked inside the Virgin Hotel in a space between the main lobby and the Commons Club restaurant usually reserved for a coffee bar.
- For now, however, it's like the holiday aisle at HomeGoods got emptied out and shoved into downtown.
- Red and green balloons cover the ceiling, nutcrackers line the floor and there are two photo ops to snap your holiday pics. One is oversized Barbie box-style with a cardboard cutout of Carey, and the other is an oversized Christmas wreath swing you can actually sit in.
If you go: It's open through the end of the year with timed-entry tickets that include a cocktail. (Details)
Sippin' Santa

⭐️ Sippin' Santa at Beachbum Berry's Latitude 29: It's almost worth a stop here just to see the cute pelican mug the Jingle Bird cocktail gets served in.
- The bar, which is produced in partnership with Miracle, has a special holiday happy hour running through Dec. 28.
- Plus, you can get some holiday shopping done while you celebrate because some of the mugs and glassware are available for purchase. And at the end of the season, Miracle will donate 10% of proceeds to the Seva Foundation.
- Make a reservation.
Spirits Aglow

⭐️ Spirits Aglow at the Eliza Jane: The far-end of the hotel's Press Room bar has gotten a holiday makeover.
- An enormous Christmas tree makes for a sweet picture backdrop, and the cocktail menu has gotten a temporary holiday makeover, too.
Hanukkah pop-up at Saba

🕎 Later this season, the L'Chaim Lounge will also reopen at Saba through the duration of Hanukkah, Dec. 25 through Jan. 2.
- You can order off a menu that includes a shareable latke board and cocktails named after famous Jewish people, like Jerry Seinfeld, Barbra Streisand and Ben Stiller … and chef Alon Shaya's daughter, Ruth.
- She's not famous (yet!) but we think that's cute.
