Tropical Storm Francine made landfall Wednesday near Morgan City as a Category 2 hurricane, the National Hurricane Center said.

How to help
If you're in a position to help today, here are three places that are on the ground and could use donations.
💵 The United Way of Southeast Louisiana is taking monetary donations to provide food, supplies and emergency financial assistance for families. Details.
🍎 Donate money, food or time to the Second Harvest Food Bank, which serves communities throughout south Louisiana, including New Orleans, Houma and Lafayette. Most needed items.
🍪 Drop any extra hurricane snacks and bottled drinks in one of the community fridges around the city. Locations.
Steve Gleason, a former Saints player and current ALS activist, was hospitalized last night as Hurricane Francine hit New Orleans, his team confirmed this morning.
- Gleason is at an Ochsner hospital and his vitals were stable as of 9:15am, his team tweeted.
Public transit will resume today in New Orleans with a limited schedule, the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority says.
- Buses will be running but less frequently.
- RTA is clearing the streetcar tracks and waiting for power to return before putting them back in service. Buses are handling those routes for now.
- Paratransit services are available on an as-needed basis.
Still closed: Ferry service remains suspended until further notice, RTA says.
