Thistle Farms adds new recovery housing in the face of overwhelming demand

What they're saying: "For every woman seeking safety, healing and a fresh start, may this be a place where grace is found, community is built and hope is restored," Thistle Farms founder Becca Stevens said at the home's dedication.

The big picture: The new beds were added in the face of overwhelming demand. The Nashville nonprofit's waiting list, which is capped at 100 women, is consistently full.

How it works: Thistle Farms' two-year residential program provides free housing and clinical services, along with job training and employment opportunities.

By the numbers: The organization now has 48 beds across its long-term recovery, safe-house, transitional and permanent supportive housing programs, a spokesperson tells Axios.

What's next: Further renovations are expected to bring the organization's total housing capacity to 55 beds in the near future.
