Nashville's live music scene is on the verge of a new era starting Thursday.
Why it matters: October marks the arrival of The Truth, the highly anticipated 4,400-seat Live Nation venue in Wedgewood Houston.
- The concert hall's opening month is packed with blockbuster acts like Sting and Jack White that were clearly designed to make a splash.
Zoom in: We've gathered some of the most high-profile shows coming to The Truth and other venues around the city.
🎀 Miranda Lambert at The Truth Oct. 1: Lambert will open Nashville's newest venue with a one-night-only performance celebrating the release of her new album "Crisco," which drops Friday.
- The intrigue: The special show will feature a 12-piece string section.
🕯️ Phoebe Bridgers at Bridgestone Arena Oct. 10–11: The singer-songwriter has serious street cred, but she's also a big commercial draw, selling out two arena nights.
- What we're watching: Bridgers wants to make sure fans are focused on the music. The concerts will also be phone-free, with devices locked inside Yondr pouches during the performances.
💿 The Chicks at The Truth Oct. 15: One of country's biggest musical groups is revisiting some of its most celebrated albums at a 20th anniversary show for the "Taking the Long Way" album that swept the Grammys in 2007.
- The vibe: They'll play the entire album before closing the show with hits from the rest of their catalog.
🎸 Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at the Ryman Oct. 15–17 and 22–24: Isbell returns for another sprawling residency at the Mother Church.
- Six shows are spread across two weekends with a different opening act each night.
🌱 Live on the Green at Ascend Amphitheater Oct. 18: Nashville's long-running concert series is coming back with a "Lawnwarming Party" at its new riverfront home.
- Guster and Grace Potter headline the preview show. The full series returns next year.
🎙️ Sam Smith at the Grand Ole Opry Oct. 21: The five-time Grammy winner will make their Opry debut during a show that also features Nashville soul singer Maggie Rose.
- It's the kind of unexpected artist-venue pairing that could only happen in Music City.
