Nashville gas prices are more than $1 higher per gallon heading into the Labor Day weekend than they were a year ago.

By the numbers: Gas in Nashville averaged $3.92 per gallon on Tuesday, per GasBuddy.
- It was $2.86 per gallon a year ago.
Zoom out: Nashville's average is far below the current national average of $4.11.
The big picture: Travelers are paying more for several parts of their vacations this year, per AAA.
- AAA booking data shows average domestic airfare is up 2% compared to last year, averaging $750 for a roundtrip ticket. (Travelers flying to the most popular destinations are seeing airfare spikes of nearly 20% over last year.)
- The cost of domestic hotel bookings are up 9% compared to last Labor Day weekend.
The other side: International airfare is down 4% year over year, AAA reported.
