Nashville IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden is coming home this weekend to race in the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix, and he's hoping for a repeat of last year's triumphant finish.
Flashback: Music City helped reboot Newgarden's luck last year. After a racing season that was otherwise pretty lousy, he took the top prize on his hometown track — and got a first-place guitar for his troubles.
State of play: So far the 2026 season is going better for Newgarden, who has won two out of 11 races.
Tennessean reporter Mike Organ wrote about Newgarden's hopes to add to that tally with another win in Nashville on Sunday.
What he's saying: "It would be fun to go back-to-back here; I've done that somewhere else," Newgarden said, referencing his 2023 and 2024 wins in the Indy 500.
"To do it here in Nashville would be great. But it's a hard championship to compete in. Everybody is good; the teams, all the drivers."
If you go: Events are planned throughout the weekend at theNashville Superspeedway. The main race starts at 4:30pm Sunday.
