Tonight is opening night for Studio Tenn Theatre Company's production of the iconic Broadway musical "Jesus Christ Superstar," featuring a Tony-nominated actor in the lead role.
Why it matters: Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic rock opera about the crucifixion was a massive crossover hit in the 1970s, and songs like "I Don't Know How To Love Him" have become standards.
The intrigue: The local production features Broadway star Adam Pascal as Jesus.
Pascal rose to fame with a Tony-nominated role in the original production of "Rent." He was also in the subsequent movie adaptation.
If you go: Performances start tonight and run through May 31 at the Turner Theater, which is located in The Factory at Franklin.
