Nashville is celebrating Earth Day by launching its first-ever city-run plastic foam recycling program.
Why it matters: Residents now have a convenient and free way to reduce waste and dispose of the plastic foam that is packed into many household shipments.
State of play: Mayor Freddie O'Connell will kickstart the service today by tossing the first piece of also known as polystyrene foam (also known as Styrofoam) into the new "Foam Cycle" system at the East Convenience Center.
How it works: Avoid foam-related FOMO by dropping your stash at the East Nashville center at 943 Dr. Richard G. Adams Drive.
While that is the only location for foam recycling at the moment, a spokesperson for Nashville Department of Waste Services tells Axios there are plans to expand the program.
