Nashville man gets a surprise star turn in "Company Retreat"

How it works: The series opens as the 20-something Nashville man thinks he has just booked a temp job at a company called Rockin' Grandma's Hot Sauce.

Yes, but: It is all a meticulously staged ruse. Norman is unknowingly surrounded by actors pretending to be his larger-than-life coworkers.

• Norman thinks he is participating in a documentary tracking the company and its employees during a company retreat. Instead, cameras are capturing his unfiltered reactions to outrageous scripted scenarios that parody corporate life.
• As the show proceeds, Norman is plunged into a chaotic storyline that depicts a clash between corporate ambitions and small business values.

Zoom out: The premise is based on "Jury Duty," the 2023 series that similarly put an unwitting civilian in the middle of a sitcom.

Reality check: While Norman wasn't in on the joke during filming, he certainly is now. And he seems to be laughing along. His Instagram bio lists him as the "only real Rockin' Grandma's employee."
