Never mind.
- A day after the old school West Nashville restaurant Dalts announced it was closing, a new announcement came saying some of the top restaurateurs in the city were stepping in to bring it back.
Why it matters: For longtime Nashvillians, the abrupt news that Dalts American Grill had closed was another sign that growth was snuffing out the city's institutions.
- But the revival teases another era of opportunity that is fueled by the city's growing culinary scene.
State of plate: Strategic Hospitality — the celebrated restaurant group behind The Patterson House, Catbird Seat, Bastion and Locust — will "reimagine and reopen" the 45-year-old diner in its original location according to a Tuesday press release.
Zoom in: Brothers Max and Benjamin Goldberg of Strategic Hospitality are teaming up with entrepreneur Andrew Sohr for the project. All three grew up in Nashville going to Dalts, which they call "the 'Cheers' of West Nashville."
What they're saying: "Dalts was a canvas for many childhood memories for Benjamin and me, and we believe countless Nashvillians share the same sentiment," Max Goldberg said in a statement.
- "We are looking forward to creating a welcoming neighborhood restaurant for the next generation."
Behind the scenes: The new ownership team said they began planning for the transition after they learned the previous owners were stepping back.
- They now own the concept and have already secured a long-term lease on the White Bridge Road property.
Between the lines: Strategic Hospitality is a Nashville juggernaut in its own right. It is the backbone of the city's fine dining scene, but the team's portfolio also includes a Lower Broadway honky-tonk and a bar at First Horizon Park.
What's next: Goldberg promises updates on the reopening in the coming months. They've launched a new website and social media account.
