Fans of the two-toned blue are seeing red, and their ire is focused squarely on coach Brian Callahan.
Why it matters: Tennessee Titans fans are desperate for any sign of positive momentum after years of abysmal play. Few have materialized since Callahan took the helm in 2024.
Zoom out: The Titans slipped to 0-4 for the season on Sunday, extending their losing streak to a record-tying 10 games.
- The Titans haven't won a game since last November. If they lose next week, they will cement the worst losing streak since coming to Tennessee in 1997.
The latest: After the team's blowout loss to the Texans on Sunday, onlookers predicted Callahan's departure was imminent.
- But Callahan appeared at a press conference in Nashville Monday, indicating his job is still safe — at least for now.
Between the lines: Callahan wouldn't say if he'd had conversations with team leaders about his job security.
What he's saying: "My job is to try and put our team in a position to try and win as many games as possible and to keep coaching until the day comes that they don't want me to coach here any more, and that is the reality for coaches in the league," Callahan said.
- "I don't look for assurances, but I can tell you I've always been supported here, and I've always felt like the people that I have to work with on a day-to-day basis believe in what we're doing, and how we're doing it.
- "But I also know how the NFL works."
The intrigue: While Callahan was measured and matter-of-fact on Monday, rookie quarterback Cam Ward reflected the painful frustrations among the fans in his remarks after the team's latest loss.
"When is the last time Tennessee won? I don't know," Ward said. Ward has been sacked 17 times so far this season — more than any other NFL quarterback — largely thanks to the Titans' floundering offensive line.
- "I'm just trying to win. Everybody in this locker room, we want to win, and we have to win. That's really what it comes down to, no matter how we've got to do it.
- "At some point we have to turn the tide."
