Songwriter Ashley Gorley won the songwriter of the year honor this week at the Nashville Songwriter Awards.
State of play: Gorley is one of the most successful Nashville songwriters of all time. He has credits on massive hits including the Post Malone-Morgan Wallen duet "I Had Some Help" and "I Am Not Okay" by Jelly Roll.
Zoom out: The hit songwriter (and Belmont University alum) was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame this year. The Hall of Fame credits him with nearly 500 releases and 83 No. 1 radio singles.
