The average worker in Davidson County took home $1,702 per week in the first quarter of 2025, according to new federal data.
Why it matters: That's a raise of 4.1% compared to the same time period in 2024.
State of play: Nashville's wage growth is about even with the national trend. But some suburbs are getting bigger raises.
Zoom in: Williamson County, which is one of the wealthiest counties in the country, got a 4.8% pay bump this year, bringing average weekly wages to $1,868.
How it works: The Bureau of Labor Statistics released data for the country's 372 largest counties.
The big picture: Benton County, Arkansas, saw the most wage growth between the first quarters of 2024 and 2025, with average weekly pay up 14.6%.
Average weekly wages there rose to $2,296.
Reality check: Looking at wage growth for all residents only tells part of the story.
Broadly speaking, men's wages rose last year while women's pay stagnated, Axios' Emily Peck reported — "a worrying sign that the slow march toward pay equity for women is stumbling."
