Tomato Art Fest, the annual oddball event where East Nashville acts its East Nashvillest, returns this weekend for its 22nd year.
Why it matters: The festival is a chance to celebrate art, delicious tomatoes and act like a weirdo in public with impunity.
Fried green facts: The motto for this year's fest is "Tomato: a uniter, not a divider."
The event begins tonight at Five Points in East Nashville with live music and food trucks.
The second day of Tomato Art Fest kicks off with the annual "Push, Pull and Wear" parade, which organizers describe as "a whimsical procession of tomato-inspired costumes and fanfare through the streets." Sources say there is a decent amount of alcohol consumption at the festival.
There's more live music, 225 local vendors and an array of tomato-themed art throughout day two of the festival.
If you go: The fest is family friendly and free.
