Tennessee tourism set another record with $31.7 B in visitor spending

Tennessee tourism hit new highs in 2024, with visitors spending a whopping $31.7 billion on hotels, food and other travel expenses, according to a new report.

Why it matters: State tourism officials say that spending pads the state's bottom line. Last year, tourist spending generated $3.3 billion in state and local tax revenue.

By the numbers: Tennessee logged 147 million visits in 2024, per the state report. Visitors spent $87 million per day.

The intrigue: International visitors spent $1,278 during an average visit. That's nearly six times more than domestic travelers.

What's next: State officials will list county-by-county data this fall. Davidson County is likely to be a leading driver of visitor spending.
